New Hires and Promotions

Shomari Hearn will take on a leadership role for a dozen client service professionals, spread across three states, with his promotion to vice president at Palisades Hudson Financial Group, effective Jan. 1.

Jeffrey Joseph will become a manager for infrastructure and technology, also effective in January. In addition, our firm promoted two new client service managers and hired two new client service staff members this autumn. ReKeithen Miller, of our Atlanta office, and Anthony Criscuolo, on the Fort Lauderdale staff, are the new client service managers.

Thomas Walsh is a new client service associate in Atlanta, and Gerardo Morabito is a financial planning assistant in Fort Lauderdale.

Shomari Hearn

Shomari, 36, will be the firm’s second vice president, joining Jonathan Bergman, Larry Elkin and Linda Elkin on the firm’s executive team. Jonathan has been vice president and chief investment officer since 2006. Larry, who founded the company in 1992, is Palisades Hudson’s president. Linda has been director of marketing and human resources since 1995.

Shomari will be responsible for technical quality, advanced research and professional staff development. He will continue to serve as chief of the Fort Lauderdale office and will coordinate staff assignments with fellow chiefs Eric Meermann in Scarsdale, N.Y., and Paul Jacobs in Atlanta.

Palisades Hudson uses a unified staff approach, in which clients – who are located in more than 20 states across the country, as well as overseas – are frequently served by staff located in multiple offices in order to maintain the best match between client needs and staff skills and schedules. When new technical skills and knowledge are acquired in one office or on a particular client assignment, Shomari will be responsible for ensuring that the know-how is quickly disseminated and applied to benefit other clients across the firm. He also will perform periodic reviews to identify ways in which Palisades Hudson can advance and improve its services, and he will ensure that newer members of the professional staff are exposed to a broad array of technical subjects as they advance to become client service managers.

Shomari has been involved in virtually every facet of the firm’s development since he joined Palisades Hudson, then known as Larry M. Elkin & Co., in New York in 1998. He became the manager in charge of the Fort Lauderdale office when it opened in 2005. That office has since grown from one to five full-time staff.

A Bronx native, Shomari is an alumnus of the Dwight School in upper Manhattan, and of Duke University. He is a Certified Financial Planner™ certificant as well as an enrolled agent entitled to practice before the Internal Revenue Service and other tax authorities.

Jeffrey, 26, joined the Scarsdale staff in 2004 as a part-time office assistant while still in college. He stayed on as a full-time administrative associate after graduation and focused increasingly on technology and infrastructure. He transferred to Atlanta last year.

Although the firm’s main computing center remains in New York, Jeffrey has assembled a full-scale backup server complex in Atlanta that will allow Palisades Hudson to operate in the event of an extended power failure or internet outage in Scarsdale. He also supervised the overhaul of the firm’s website last year, and the transition to an internet-based telephone system that unifies all offices on a single set of virtual extensions that can be answered from any location.

ReKeithen Miller

ReKeithen, 27, is a Tallahassee native. He joined the Fort Lauderdale staff in 2007 and transferred to Atlanta in 2009. Anthony, 26, who was raised in the Fort Lauderdale area, was an intern in Fort Lauderdale in 2007 and joined that office full-time upon graduation in 2008. Both are graduates of the Warrington College of Business Administration at the University of Florida, and both hold the CFP® credential.

Anthony Criscuolo

ReKeithen and Anthony have each worked on a wide variety of client projects, and each has covered multiple asset classes as an analyst for the firm’s Investment Committee. Anthony was a volunteer counselor last year at the South Florida Financial Planning Day event.

Tom, 22, joined our Atlanta staff a few months after graduating from the Warrington College of Business Administration. A scholar-athlete in high school in Volusia County, Fla., Tom was raised in Ormond Beach.

Gerardo, also 22, became a financial planning assistant in Fort Lauderdale this fall. Gerardo is a native of Venezuela. He moved to Florida with his family as a child and graduated from high school in Broward County, before attending the California Institute of Technology. Gerardo received an engineering degree from Cal Tech in 2011. He then returned to Fort Lauderdale and joined our staff to pursue an interest in business and finance.
